Nine deer that were euthanizing by Wildlife officers on a farm last month in Asheboro did NOT test positive for Chronic Wasting Disease. The disease, essentially mad cow disease for deer, is highly contagious and has been devastating to deer populations in the northern Rockies, but so far, has not been detected inNorth Carolina.  Wildlife officials have defended their actions to kill the deer on Wayne Kinley’s farm inAsheboro saying that testing for C-W-D, can be done only by euthanizing the animals.  An online petition has some people including the owner of the deer rehab farm complaining on how the deer were put down.   http://www.myfox8.com/news/wghp-deer-killed-in-randolph-county-test-negative-for-disease-20111019,0,7929523.story
