The Lewisville Fire Department’s dive and rescue team made an unusual discovery during a training exercise at Winston Lake yesterday afternoon. They recovered three vehicles from the bottom of the lake.   Police say three vehicles were possibly missing since 2003 or 2004. Winston Lake is expected to be back open later

An Act of Domestic Terrorism?  A security guard at the Family Research Council headquarters in Washington, D.C., was shot in the arm by a gunman yesterday morning who sources said expressed disagreement with the conservative group’s policies. The Family Research Council is a conservative organization that promotes conservative issues of faith and family including pro-life and pro-traditional marriage causes.  The city of Greensboro condemned the Cascades Grandview Apartments across from Greensboro College yesterday after Duke Energy shut off electricity to the building at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday –  and it had no working emergency lights.    The building has 196 apartments and between 60 and 70 people were evacuated last night.  About a dozen residents were taken to a shelter set up by the American Red Cross at Glenwood Recreation Center. http://www.news-record.com/content/2012/08/15/article/city_evacuating_apartments_details_developing
