The closure is needed so crews can safely conduct paving operations and put in a traffic shift at the overpass over US-29. This will improve the condition of the roadway and to make this section safer for motorists.
A section of westbound Interstate 40 will close this weekend between the I-40/85 split (Exit 131) and the merge at Hwy 29-70 (exit 222).
The closure will begin on Friday, Sept. 15, at 8 p.m., and last through 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.
