A local marine from Randolph County has died in the line of duty. Lance Cpl. Jacob Levy was shot by a sniper in Afghanistan last Wednesday when he was flown to Germany. Levy’s mom and dad were by his side when he passed away on Saturday. Levy was 21 years old. Levy graduated from Eastern Randolph High School in 2009. Lowe’s Home Improvement has pulled its ads from the TLC reality show “All-American Muslim” after the Florida Family Association had threatened a boycott. Now, a state senator fromSouthern Californiasaid he was considering calling for a boycott if Lowe’s DOSEN’T apologize to Muslims and reinstate its ads on the show. Eating raw cookie dough is not a good idea. A 2009 case study confirming that cookie dough can contain salmonella from ingredients such as raw eggs, but the new study suggests that E. coli can lurk in the dough as well. Starting this week, students at one high school in Rock Hill, South Carolina won’t get disciplined right away for wearing saggy pants. Instead, school officials will lend them a belt. The Herald of Rock Hill reporting that administrators at Northwestern High School hope the change will cause students to think about how they dress and also reduce the number of students referred for discipline.

Yawning: It’s all in who you know. Seriously! An Italian study found that yawns were most contagious among family members, followed by friends and then acquaintances and strangers. The study was published in the journal PLoS One. ABC News
For a fifth year in a row, an anonymous donor has dropped a gold coin in a Salvation Army kettle outside a Sam’s Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.
