Last week, my wife and I had the blessing of taking a Caribbean cruise to celebrate our upcoming 20th Wedding Anniversary. Highly Recommended!
Today, January 31st – my parents are celebrating their 52nd Anniversary. Considering that they served in some form of full time ministry for most of their entire married life, I call this quite a feat. For some reason, those who give their lives to serve the needs of others often find themselves facing critics, stone-throwers, and a variety of experts with dissenting opinions. The result is a pressure that is released on those closest to us. This serves to either build or destroy a marriage.
Kudos to all those who are survivors and praise the Lord! “Growing Weary In Well Doing” can apply to our relationships in addition to our service efforts. Of course, that verse (Galatians 5:9) goes on to say that the perseverance will reap a bountiful harvest.
What are the harvests of our marriages? Most harvests will endure storms, extremes of temperature and those pests that gnaw at the foundations that give us strength. Nearly every harvest is also the result of careful planning, pruning and nurturing.
So what are we doing to not only ensure that the harvest is complete but that the reward is bountiful? Better think quick – Valentines is only two weeks away!
