The executive director with ‘Voice of the Martyrs’ has died.  Tom White led VOM, a ministry that helps support the persecuted Church, for more than 20 years. In May 1979, White’s private plane crashed on a Cuban highway after being caught in a storm. He was captured and spent a year in prison, where he experienced brutal treatment from Castro’s secret police. His Cuban prison experience is detailed in his book, ‘God’s Missiles Over Cuba’.

Remembering an entertainment icon: Dick Clark, the long time host of American Bandstand, passed away on Wednesday after suffering a massive heart attack.  The man who never seemed to age…was 82 years old.   http://consumer.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=663871

A salmonella outbreak linked to a frozen yellowfin tuna product has now sickened over 140 people in 20 states (including North Carolina).   21 people have been hospitalized.  Reports saying that many people who became ill had eaten raw tuna in sushi as “spicy tuna.”  http://consumer.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=663871

SPORTS: Pat Summitt, the legendary head coach of the Lady Volunteers at the University of Tennessee, is stepping down due to health reasons.   Summitt revealed several months ago that she has early onset dementia. The 59 year old Summitt is the winningest coach in NCAA college basketball history.  She was head coach atTennesseefor 38 years.
