Local News Anchor transitions to writing…

Cameron Kent (WXII) is officially ‘retiring’  on Friday after the 6pm news cast.

Cameron Kent joined WXII back in 1979 – the same year he graduated from Wake Forest University, where he studied communication and journalism.

Greatest lesson learned?

“You have to be a part of your local community in order to properly report on it.”

“I think that you have to be involved with local charities, spend time in soup kitchens, visit schools, attend sporting events, go to local festivals, eat at local diners, talk to people at the hardware store, anything that gets you out among your viewers so you can hear their concerns and better understand what they feel is important.”
