One man. One woman.
Just say ‘YES’ in support of traditional marriage

As part of the local media, I take my job title with WBFJ as News Director seriously. I love to inform, enlighten and entertain through my daily newscasts. And yes, I try to look at this world and the events that transpire around me through a very ‘convicting’ view point: a ‘Christian’ world view. Ultimately asking “how does my understanding of the Bible compare and contrast with ‘the world”?
According to scripture, traditional marriage can only be the union of one man and one woman (Genesis 1:27 + 2:24). And, as a side note: State law already makes the distinction that a legal marriage in North Carolina is between one man and one woman.

According to latest research from the Family Research Council on “Traditional Marriage” states that “God has ordained three basic institutions: the church, the government and the family. The family is the first and foundational institution of human society. Every civilization in history is built upon the institution of marriage. The welfare of children, the propagation of the faith, the wellbeing of society, and the orderliness of civilization are all dependent upon the stability of marriage according to the divine pattern.”

Jesus was clear about the definition of marriage…
“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”(Matthew 19:4-6).

Vote YES to protect “traditional marriage” in North Carolina on Tuesday, May 8. spread the word, not in conflict but with gentleness and respect!

My heart is broken this week for a family whose life was turned upside down by a tragedy that has left them forever changed. The Cretzman’s are a beautiful young couple from Canada who, along with their two young children, have spent the past year preparing to serve as missionaries to Cuba. However, on Monday, a patch of black ice on I-74 near Mt.Airy sent their car off the road causing an accident that fatally wounded their 3 year old daughter Azlynn and left her mom, Lana, with serious injuries.

I have such great admiration for parents of small children who are willing to step out in faith and onto the mission field. I am sure there were people who gave the Cretzmen’s a hard time about their choice to serve as missionaries. As someone who has taken her own children on short term missions trips, I’ve had a taste of that criticism from well meaning friends and family members who say things like, “But, it’s so dangerous, why would you put yourself and your child at risk?” or, “Aren’t there things you can do right here in the US? Can’t you help people in our own country where it’s safer?”

But, the truth is that our days are all numbered. In Psalm 139:16 it says, “all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Does that mean we should take unnecessary risks with our lives? No, of course not. But, it does mean that we should not allow fear of suffering or death to stop us from following God’s will for our lives, even if that leads us into situations that some would consider unsafe. And, since we never know which day is our last we should spend them wisely, serving Him.

I think it’s very fitting that the verse that the Cretzman’s have chosen a section of Ephesians 5 as verse to guide their mission. It says, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

The number of knee replacement operations has surged in the past decade, especially in baby boomers. Nearly 1 in 20 Americans over age 50 have artificial knees. People with knee replacements often require additional care due to infections or scar tissue.
