 RECALL: Honda is recalling over 300,000 Odyssey minivans because of a defective sensor that can cause ‘unexpected braking without (you) pressing the brake pedal’.  The recall includes 2007 and 2008 model years.

While we are asleep, our brains are busy – taking out the ‘trash’?  A new study has found that the cleanup system in the brain, responsible for flushing out toxic waste products that cells daily produce, goes into overdrive in mice that are asleep. Scientists say this nightly self-clean by the brain provides a compelling biological reason for the restorative power of sleep.  Get some sleep: Too little sleep causes mental fog, crankiness, and increased risks of migraine and seizure. FYI: Rats deprived of all sleep die within weeks.

The Carolina Panthers are now 5 and 3, winning their fourth game in a row on Sunday with a victory over the Atlanta Falcons 34-10.   The Charlotte Observer BTW: Former Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox will undergo heart surgery (aortic valve replacement) this week in Charlotte.  The 58-year-old will be absent from the sidelines for several weeks. Fox is head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Kraft Foods will be removing artificial dyes (including Yellow No. 5 and Yellow No. 6) from several types of their Mac & Cheese products catered to kids. The dyes will be replaced by paprika and other spices for coloring. BTW: Kraft says the decision to remove the dyes has nothing to do with an online  petition at which was launched back in March.

 The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system is NOT participating in Monday’s statewide teacher walk-ins.  But, an ‘event’ is in the works to invite the community into Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools on November 20, during American Education Week.

Big Bird and other Sesame Street characters have been recruited to encourage children to eat more fruits and vegetables.  Sesame Workshop will allow the Produce Marketing Association and the Partnership for a Healthier America to use Sesame Street characters free of charge to promote produce to youngsters.

Should children have the right to ask for their own deaths? In Belgium, euthanasia is legal for people over the age of 18. The government is now considering extending euthanasia to children (with the consent of their parents). Belgium legalized the practice for adults in 2002.

 Police are still searching for four suspects in connection with a shooting at A&T State University late Saturday night.  The university was placed on lockdown for nearly an hour.  One man was injured in the shooting… (Fox8)
