UPDATE: Deadly crash in southern Forsyth County this morning:  Highway 109 near Meadowview Road (just north of Fiddler’s Creek Apartments).   Both lanes were CLOSED.  Fox 8 reporting that the wreck happened around 7:45 a.m. this morning and was BLOCKED in both directions for several hours.

Glitches continue to plague the Obamacare website.  Seems that the new federal healthcare website was NOT ready for prime time.  To compensate, staffing at call centers is up 50% to fill the gap. The ‘Spending’ appeal of Halloween?  The National Retail Federation saying that Halloween is a $6.5 billion dollar holiday, second in spending only to Christmas.  The average family in the US will spend $75 dollars during Halloween (on everything from costumes, decorations and candy).

 Stiffer penalties on the way for drivers who pass a stopped school bus in North  Carolina.  Starting December 1st, drivers caught illegally passing a stopped school bus will face a minimum $500 dollar fine and (in some cases) could lose their licenses.  The current law is a misdemeanor with a penalty of up to five points on your license and up to a $200 dollar fine. Last Thursday, 17 year old Makinzy Jordan Smith was killed while crossing the street to board his stopped school bus near Salisbury.
