Inviting Challenges

Inviting Challenges

My friend Josh is an accomplished boxer who recently had the opportunity of a lifetime.  He, along with a handful of other top-notch boxers from around the world, was invited to train with the World Heavyweight Champion, Wladimir Klitschko for the purpose of helping the champ prepare for an important fight he had coming up.

Think about something…this world champion boxer recognized that the best way to prepare for his next battle was to spar with other talented boxers.  Instead of avoiding struggles and challenges, he welcomed them!  He used them to make him better.

So, maybe you and I can learn something from Vlad.  I’m guessing there is a challenging or difficult situation you are facing right now.  What if, instead of being annoyed or frustrated by it, you welcomed it?  What if you changed your perspective and chose to look at this challenge as a tool designed to help you grow stronger and be better prepared for the future?

Remember what Paul said in Romans 5:3-4 about suffering?

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.”

While we certainly are not expected to like our trials, we can learn to appreciate the character and maturity our trials develop in us. Like The Champ we can use these challenges to make ourselves better.

About Tami With-an-i

Co-Host, Your Family-Friendly Morning Show

I have three awesome kids - Andrew, Carley and Laura. My husband, Alton, is a delivery driver by day with dreams of one day publishing his own comic book. Yes, he is a geek, but I love him anyway.

I have been working at WBFJ since September 2004 when God threw me out of the boat I was riding in and set me on a new and wonderful course. I love co-hosting the morning show, although the lack of sleep does make me a bit loopy at times.
