Measles outbreak in Stokes county…GTCC aviation open house…BBB Shred Day…Jr League Rummage Sale this weekend (Headlines for Thursday)

Guilford Technical Community College is hosting an open house later today for anyone interested in their two-year aviation program. The open house is  happening from 5 to 8 p.m. at GTCC’s  Davis Aviation Center on North Regional Road in Greensboro.  GTCC’s Aviation Program has doubled in size in recent years. Many GTCC students graduating in July, already have jobs waiting…For more information:

State health officials have issued a public health advisory concerning a measles outbreak in Stokes and Orange counties.  Experts say that Measles
(can) spread quickly, particularly in children and adults who are not vaccinated.  Measles is a highly contagious disease that is spread through the air by coughing and sneezing. Initial symptoms may include fever, runny nose, watery red eyes and cough. After a few days, a rash appears on the head and spreads over the entire body. FYI: Measles is usually preventable when kids get their MMR vaccination.
