Earth Day is Monday (April 22) – Get Unplug and Play Outside on Earth Day. Plan a family outing to a local park or nearby natural area…
Did you know? The average American spends 90% of their time indoors… Kids spend an average of 7.5 hours per day consumed by their electronics…
Be Good Stewards of our environment: Make it a habit to turn OFF the lights when you leave any room for 15 minutes or more. Utilize natural light when you can.
-Instead of throwing clothes in the hamper after one wear, wear them again. FYI: Even some of the newest and most efficient clothes washers use about 15 gallons of
water per cycle. The average family washes 400 load of laundry – that’s +6,000 gallons of water per household…just on washing clothes!
-Turn up your thermostat during the summer months. This will help lower your energy usage and your bills.
-Switch to reusable water bottles and coffee mugs. Be eco-friendly and save money. BTW: Coffee shops usually give you a small discount when you bring your own mug. (The Sierra Club)
Weather permitting: You
should be able to catch the annual Lyrid meteor shower nightly through Thursday
equipment will be needed to see an average of 10 meteors per hour in the
mid-northern sky. EarthSky.org
suggesting that the BEST time to view the meteors should be Monday night after
10pm into Tuesday morning before dawn. www.EarthSky.org
