The Justice Department suggesting that “Homeschooling NOT a fundamental right?? That comment from the Justice Department refers to the case of a German family that sought asylum in the US after being told in Germany they could not homeschool their children. The Romeike family was granted political asylum by a federal district court judge in Tennessee. But the Justice Department disagreed with the Judge’s decision. The case is now before the sixth circuit court of appeals. The Christian Post reports that if the Romeike family loses their case, they will be deported back to Germany, where they could face fines, jail time, and even have their children taken away from them.
