Gasoline prices averaged the highest ever in 2012. According to AAA, the nationwide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded hit $3.60 in 2012. Hurricanes, refinery outages and tensions in the Middle East are being blamed for the higher than normal prices last year.
Used grease-theft is now a misdemeanor in North Carolina as of January
1st. The theft is actually a felony if the value of the grease (plus the container) totals more than $1,000 dollars. Used cooking oil can be converted into biodiesel, which can run some vehicles as a cheaper alternative to gasoline. According to the USDA, a typical restaurant uses about 5 gallons of cooking oil per day. Used cooking oil sells for about 35 cents a pound. (Fox 8)
A contestant on “Wheel of Fortune” said she is a little ‘upset’ after losing big
money because she mispronounced a word. Renee Durette’s answer of “Seven Swans a Swimming” was correct,BUT she technically pronounced the word as “swimmin’ not swimming. And it cost her over $3,800 dollars.…”I asked for the ‘g’ so I knew it was there,” Durette said. (ABC)
So, what to do with all of those Christmas cards? One organization will ‘recycle’ your used your cards. You can send your used cards to St Jude’s Ranch for Children (front side with no writing) and they will recycle them. They prefer that the cards be 5 x 7 sized or less.
