Ladies listen up: Eating three or more servings of blueberries and strawberries each week may help reduce your risk of heart attack. In the 18 year study,  researchers finding that blueberries and strawberries contain high levels of compounds that may help widen arteries, which counters plaque buildup…thus, reducing the threat of heart attack.  The findings appear online Jan. 14 in the

January is Sanctity of Human Life Month: January 22 marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade – the landmark US Supreme Court case that legalized abortion in the US.

Latest report from the CDC: Widespread Flu cases in 47 States.   Cutting down the spread of germs especially during the flu season, could be as easy as wash your hands. New research suggests that boosting the percentage of young males who wash their hands could be as simple as posting “good hygiene” messages in the?  Researchers from Michigan State University posted signs in the Men’s rooms on campus that read “4 out of 5 Males Wash Their Hands.”  The signs included  details about proper hand-washing. Major sports deal between Nike and PGA Golf standout Rory McIlroy worth an estimated $200 million dollars.  Maybe that’s why McIlroy recently bought that $10.9 million dollar Florida mansion.    BTW:  McIlroy is only 23 years old, has two major PGA golf titles under his belt and is currently ranked #1 in the world.   Last
May, London-based sports business magazine SportsPro rated McIlroy as the
second most marketable athlete in the world, behind Brazilian soccer star

Property-tax rates in Winston-Salem will likely go up in the fiscal year starting July 1st.  According to city officials, the city’s property-tax rate would likely have to be increased to make up for an expected $8 million dollar shortfall in revenues from property taxes.  If that tax rate is approved, the owner of a $200,000 house would see his or her property tax go up from $982 to $1,070 (or around $88 dollars).        http://www.journalnow.com/news/local/article_229777f0-5ec8-11e2-ac59-0019bb30f31a.html
