Another student was hit by a vehicle at a bus stop this morning. The accident happened in High Point around 7:30am at the intersection of Kimery Drive and Gordon Street. Fox 8 reporting that the child was ‘likely’ taken to the hospital as a precaution. Follow-up: Winston-Salem Police arrested the driver in that hit-and-run accident that injured a 7-year-old second grader who was crossing the street at a bus stop on Monday.
As the cleanup from Super Storm Sandy (that hit the east coast in late October) got underway, one problem that had to be addressed: what to do with all the vehicles damaged by Hurricane Sandy. An estimated 15-thousand vehicles are being stored on the runways and taxiways of Calverton Executive Park, a rarely-used airport located in Riverhead, New York. The vehicles will either be scraped or they
will be repaired and put back on the road. Only licensed auto dealers are able
to bid on these vehicles. RnR
The Internal Revenue Service will start processing tax returns on January 30 – a week and a day later than planned. The IRS had to push back the January 22 start date because Congress took until New Year’s Day to pass needed tax provisions. Duke Energy will file for another rate increase in February. The North Carolina Utility Commission approved a 7 percent increase last year. HOT-HOT-HOT According to NOAA weather, 20-12 was the hottest year on record for the lower 48 states. In fact, each of the lower 48 states saw above-average temperatures last year…with 19 of them setting records of their own BTW: 20-12 was also the second-worst year for “extreme” weather such as hurricanes, droughts and floods. 61% of the country was in a drought at one point. Food prices are expected to continue to go up in 2013.
Top 10 list to avoid: For the 11th year: North Korea tops the list of worst countries for the persecution of Christians. Open Doors Ministry reporting that in North Korea – just possessing a Bible alone can be a reason for a Christian to be
executed or sent to a prison camp along with three generations of his or her
family. It is estimated that between 50,000 and 70,000 Christians suffer in horrific prison camps. The intense persecution has continued under North Korea’s new leader Kim Jong-Un. Countries where extreme Islam is practiced poses the largest threat for Christians including the countries of…Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Maldives, Mali, Iran and Yemen.
