National AMBER Alert Awareness Day was observed on Sunday. The system was named after Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped and fatally wounded in Texas back in 1996. Law enforcement started the AMBER Alert system later that year. **North Carolina has a 100% recovery rate since the Amber Alert system was implemented in our state back in 2002. FYI: AMBER stands for “America’s Missing Broadcast Emergency Response”
