Recall:  Cordless drills from Harbor Freight could overheat…(News for Thursday)

RECALL: Harbor Freight is recalling some of its cordless power drills. The drill’s black trigger switch can overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers. The drills were
sold at Harbor Freight tool stores across the country, as well as online for close
to $30 dollars.

Motivational speaker and author Zig Ziglar passed away on Wednesday after a short bout with pneumonia.  Ziglar was 86 years young. The statement on Ziglar’s Facebook page says: “Though his time on earth has ended, he is speaking with Jesus now in his heavenly home. The angels in heaven are rejoicing and his family is celebrating a life well lived.”  BTW: Ziglar wrote nearly 29 sales and motivational books. Ten of his books were bestsellers.

BTW:  Winning tickets for the $579 million dollar Powerball jackpot were bought in Arizona and Missouri. The winning numbers were 5, 23, 16, 22, 29. The Powerball was 6  

He didn’t win the White House but he did get an invitation. Former GOP
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney will have lunch with President Obama today. 
The two will chat and enjoy a private lunch date at the White House…with NO press coverage of the meeting.” Governor Romney has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since Election Night – being spotted at a movie  with his family and at Disneyland over Thanksgiving.

Senior Services is celebrating 50 years of serving meals to seniors today. Volunteers with the Meals-on-Wheels program have provided over 5 million meals to senior citizens in our area, since 1962.   Later this morning:  Hellen  Prichard, a co-founder of the local Meals-on-Wheels program, will be honored.

Warm milk to melatonin pills to prescription medications – 50% of Americans suffer with insomnia.   Researchers at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem have conducted a pilot clinical study along with Brain State Technologies to determine whether musical tones can help us sleep better.  Based on the research, musical tones may help to balance brain activity, thus ‘resetting’ the
brain and effectively reducing insomnia. The study was published in the October
online edition of the journal Brain and Behavior.
