GOOD NEWS ON THE MOUNTAIN! Officials say, the wild fire at Pilot Mt. State Park, which started as a controlled burn last Thursday is 80% contained. Originally supposed to clear out 180 acres of land, now, 675 acres and counting have burned and while there’s minimal damage to the park, finding now it’s costing the state about $100,000 to put out. Thankfully, no one had to be evacuated or was in danger because of the fire.

As the holidays approach, many relying on the help of food pantries. At Fairgrove Family Resource Center in Thomasville though, unfortunately their shelves aren’t staying full long enough. Part of the problem is that the demand for help is only rising. While food can be seen on the shelves, officials said with the demand, the supply will only last two to three days. 6 days left: DAY 2 of National Collection week for Operation Christmas Child.. Organizers say they expect to hit a big milestone this year of 100 million boxes of toys since the project began back in 1993.

Eating AND Exercise on THANKSGIVING? After a successful inaugural event, Davidson County Government employees are bringing back their Thanksgiving Day Early Bird 5K Run/Walk next Thursday. The employees started the event to involve the whole community in a project that would benefit the United Way of Davidson County. There will also be a one-mile run for children and other walkers who bring in canned food that will benefit Pastor’s Pantry.

TRIAD HOOPS BATTLE: Winston-Salem State’s Rams standing toe-to-toe with UNC Greensboro’s Spartans last night.. The Spartans cruising to an 81-65 win in front of 41-hundred at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Rams will make their home debut on Thursday at the Gaines Center against Barber Scotia at 7 p.m.

PAYING TOO MUCH FOR YOUR ENERGY? North Carolina’s attorney general wants the state’s highest court to reverse Duke Energy’s 7.2 percent electricity price increase. The state Supreme Court will hear arguments today in a case challenging Duke Energy’s rate increase on its nearly 2 million North Carolina customers. The hike was approved in January by the N.C. Utilities Commission.

FAITHFUL FIDO: A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was missing for more than 13 hours with his dog before he was found in the bushland of Mildura, Australia. Dante Berry was found in the morning with Dasher, the family’s German Shepherd Dog. By the time he was located he had braved a thunder and rain storm overnight and was around 2 miles from home. What tipped off the Police? discarded diaper found with paw prints.
