Bee Informed. The Department of Agriculture in Raleigh has implemented new rules for selling sourwood honey at five farmers markets across the state. The rules apply to beekeepers and vendors at farmers markets in Asheville, Raleigh, Greensboro, Lumberton and Charlotte. Vendors must keep records detailing information such as when and where the honey was produced and packaged. Market managers will work with the N.C. State Beekeepers Association to investigate complaints. The rules went into effect June 1. http://www.news-record.com/content/2012/06/19/article/nc_has_new_rules_for_selling_honey_at_greensboro_four_other_markets
Steve Saint, the son of legendary martyred missionary Nate Saint, is in intensive care after suffering a “paralyzing injury” while testing new equipment for the mission field. According to his Facebook update, the 61 year old “has some feeling in his fingers and his toes. He is due for surgery this week so that doctors can try to reduce the pressure on his spine.” BTW: His father, Nate Saint, was a pilot for Mission Aviation Fellowship who was killed while trying to evangelize to the Waodani people in Ecuador. The movie “End of the Spear” was based on his life. The 61 year old founded a company the Indigenous People’s Technology and Education Ministry Center (or I-Tec), which develops products to aid in reaching remote tribes. www.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2012/June/Accident-Paralyzes-Flying-Car-Missionary-Steve-Saint/
Possible competition for the Apple I-Pad? The Microsoft Surface will have many features many of the now-standard tablet, but the Surface will offer a few new innovations: The cover, for instance, flips down to become a full keyboard. It features a rigid case built from magnesium and a built-in kickstand. The Microsoft Surface will be available this Fall…and will be “priced “comparably” to other tablets on the market”. The first “Microsoft Surface” device, back in 2008, was a giant touchscreen computer aimed at retailers and other commercial customers. http://money.cnn.com/2012/06/18/technology/microsoft-windows-tablet/index.htm?cnn=yes&hpt=hp_bn1

The President of JC Penny Corporation is stepping down after 8 months on the job Michael Francis, former executive of Target, had been brought in to help re-define the JC Penny brand. Since dropping ‘special event’ sales, adding Ellen DeGeneres as the company’s spokesperson and strongly pushing a ‘pro-homosexual’ lifestyle, profits have sharply dropped. http://blogs.wsj.com/marketbeat/2012/06/18/j-c-penney-executive-departs-after-eight-months-on-job/
From the JC Penny website, the company states, “… J. C. Penney Company, Inc. is re-imagining every aspect of its business in order to reclaim its birthright and become America’s favorite store…” BTW: It is well established that James Cash Penney, the founder of the J.C. Penney Company, was a Christian who lived his life and ran his business by the principles of God’s Word. Sadly, the re-imagining of the present-day J. C. Penney Company indicates a departure from its family friendly beginnings.
